The third annual Cabling Innovators Awards presentation ceremony was held Monday, September 25, 2017 as part of the BICSI Fall Conference and Exhibition. The program was initiated in 2015 to recognize innovative products and systems as well as their uses and applications. The Cabling Innovators Awards program is intended to recognize ingenuity and innovation where it is found in the value chain of cabling-system design, installation and administration.
Participants in the program were invited to self-nominate their products, technologies, systems, programs or projects. A judging panel comprising industry professionals screened the entries and determined their level of innovation.
Cabling Installation & Maintenance’s publisher Alan Bergstein commented, “Our 2017 honorees are an outstanding example of companies who are making an impact in the industry.”
Belden’s 4K Ultra-High-Definition cable won a gold level award. Honorees earning a gold award demonstrated excellent innovation with clear benefits, making substantial improvement over previous methods, approaches, or use.
In the presentation video, Cabling Innovators Awards commented:
Belden’s 4K Ultra-High-Definition cable won a gold level award for its small, sleek design, which provide 4K video over HDBaseT for up to 100 meters. The cable were produced based on results of extensive HDBaseT testing to understand which design best supports the bandwidth needs of 4K video. Certified to new UL 4299 standards for Power over HDBaseT, Belden 4K UHD Media Cables also ensure that installations are suitable for increasing power levels. These cables support the 5Play feature set of HDBaseT while being flexible for easy installation and termination. 5Play is a registered trademark of HDBaseT Alliance.
Belden's 4K UHD media cable is up to 25% smaller than other HDBaseT cabling solutions, such as category 7&8, allowing for better utilization of racks space, come to fewer capacities and cable trace. Built with durable corrugated foil shade and helical drain, Belden's 4K UHD media cables are extremely flexible. The pairs are made using Belden patented bonded-pair technology. The cable is rated to withstand 45 pounds of pull tension. Which is much higher than the typical 25 pound of pull tension in similar networking cables. There is no need to buy a different cable based upon the equipment manufacture. Our test lab included several different brands of equipment, and the Belden 4K UHD media cable is interoperable with all of them, providing the best results that equipment can deliver. When combined with Belden REVConnect Connectivity system, the cable can be terminated up to 50% faster than standard field mount plugs.
